There are 1.2 billion people around the world spend time chatting, sending text, gif, emojis, photos and conducting commerce with businesses and brands they love on Messenger. Now with Messenger ads, they have an opportunity to discover experiences directly on their home tab.

Facebook has been always pushing to its more than 2 billion monthly active users to download Messenger. Nowadays, such users are around 1.2B active monthly users. Now, they are more than ready to attempt to monetize this app, hoping that advertisers see the user numbers as an opportunity to capitalize on.

How do you set up your Messenger Ads?

Your ads will appear on the user’s main page under the Messages tab of their Messenger mobile app. When a user scrolls through messages a “sponsored” message will appear, and when they tap on an ad, they will be sent to the destination chosen during ads creation -your website, a landing page, a messenger conversation, etc. A little bit of creativity on this part is definitely needed to catch the attention of users. Advertisers can create ads and manage them all in the Ads Manager and Power Editor and they have to be used in combination with the Facebook and Messenger existing solutions. Messenger Ads are available for the Traffic and Conversion objectives.

For those thinking about creating Messenger ads with a Call to Action re-directing users to a Messenger conversation, remember that click to Messenger ads are available on Instagram as well as Facebook. Or you can link the content to your chatbot. For example, our Sauco Media Messenger has a bot built who shows the visitor some of the services we provide.

We’ve seen Facebook attempt to establish Messenger as a variety of different tools (a mobile payments app, chatbots, etc) with not much success. We will just have to wait and see if Messenger ads are the really next thing (we believe they are).
